SEASIDERS vs LEVERSTOCK GREEN - EMIRATES FA CUP PREVIEW

FELIXSTOWE & WALTON UNITED   vs  LEVERSTOCK GREEN

Felixstowe & Walton United will look for further progression in the Emirates FA Cup as they host a First Qualifying round tie against Leverstock Green at the Martello Ground. The Hemel Hempstead side are playing at step four for the first time in their history this season, following a fourth-place finish in the Spartan South Midland League and subsequent playoff victory but have had a tough start to life in the Southern League Central division, gaining just one point from their opening four fixtures, however on closer inspection, two of the three defeats have been against teams with near perfect records this season, Aylesbury United and Welwyn Garden City, before Mondays home loss to mid table Barton Rovers. It has been a different matter in the FA Cup, with two rounds having been safely navigated so far, including a penalty shootout away win against Heybridge Swifts last week following two 1-1 draws against Felixstowe’s Isthmian North rivals. “The Trees” play their first ever FA Trophy match next week when they welcome Bury Town to Hertfordshire. The Seasiders will be buzzing after their latest victory over Bury in the league on Bank Holiday Monday, which added to the 4-0 thumping of their West Suffolk rivals in the FA Cup that saw them reach this stage, and move on to seventeen goals scored in their first five games this season. Jack Ainsley is back in training but won’t be ready just yet, whilst Leon Ottley-Gooch will be a doubt following his injury at Witham last weekend. If the scores are level after 90 minutes tomorrow then the sides will replay at Pancake Lane on Tuesday evening with a supporters coach available. The draw for the Second Qualifying round takes place on Monday 2nd September at 1pm.
